Patriotism
Patriotism means attachment and love for our country. Poets tell us that one loves one's country simply because the world is too vast to love all at once. But let us add that love of country, if properly developed, is capable of spreading to the whole world. So it is natural that we should love our country because we breathe its air, live under its sky and are part of its soul.
That is why it is one of the noblest passions of human nature. Man as we know him is a social animal. He can't live alone. His nature compels him to live in association with other human beings. They have to live in society. Only then can he lead a happy and fruitful life.
Our country is not just a piece of land for us. It is more than a physical reality. Maybe there are other countries that are more beautiful. We love it because it embodies our traditions, hopes and aspirations. We love it because patriotism is a natural passion.
Patriotism is an active virtue. Love inspires and urges a man to do all in his power for the welfare of his country. Thanks to this, he is able to perform his duties homely and zealously. Some people mistakenly believe that patriotism is only experienced in times of war. It's a dangerous idea. Patriotism is a virtue that inspires us in peace and war.
If we are patriots, we will always strive to make our country healthy and strong. We will always try to help and urge the government to follow just and moral policies in foreign and domestic affairs, we will not allow others to threaten our freedom and integrity.
